I can't believe I've saved $1000!

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on the site for ages but what a nice surprise when I logged on and my fat piggy bank says I've nearly reached my goal savings of $1000 - next week I will have. It's truely a wonderful feeling to have money in my purse at the end of the week and I never thought I'd get so much pleasure paying my credit card each month - seeing that balance plummet is a beautiful thing.

Its been 4 months since I quit and I can honestly say the little niggles of want (I won't dignify them by calling them cravings) I've expeienced have been fleeting and easy to get through. I recently went on a road trip to QLD with my daughter and each time we stopped for her to suck down a ciggie (and to top us both up with caffine ;-)) I didn't feel a twinge of want, not even for a piece of nicotine gum which I still carry around 'just in case'.

It's my birthday soon and I plan to book in for a manicure & pedicure (something I've never expecienced before) and a haircut to reward myself for staying on track. So I'll look pretty as well as smell good :-)

So for those of you who have only just given up, are still thinking about it or going through a rough patch - DON'T GIVE UP GIVING UP cause the view from here is FANTASTIC!!!

Keep smilin',

Sunny

Hey sunny, what a great story. It's reading stories like yours that help every one stay on track. Enjoy your manicure and pedicure!

Thanks for your story Sunny. I tried patches and gum but they don't seem to do much for me. I think they just remind me that I'm trying not to smoke. So it's cold turkey for me. I also want to pay off my credit card, but I also intend to give myself some small rewards, about $2, whenever I feel the need, over the next couple of weeks- something visual. I'm thinking at the end of each week I'll buy a bunch of flowers to put on my dining table, which is where I do a lot of my smoking. The bunch of flowers costs about as much as a packet of cigarettes and should keep for about a week, plus smell a lot nicer than my stinky ashtray and cigarette smoke.

Excellent Sunny. And so you should spoil yourself. Do it more often too.
