I've made it three months! Must say I am rather proud of myself. This I think, is the key. I'm actually proud! I've always given up on things through out my life. Never completed something for ME. I'm feeling great! Saving a bunch of money and just plain enjoying life. There's no hunting around for a place to have a smoke. Or 'scheduling' a smoke in... "after dinner"..."with coffee"..."in lunch break" oh my goodness I wasted SO much time! Especially with all the laws on where you can and cant smoke now.

Everyone out there that has quit should be SO proud of themselves too. Whether you have made it through one day, one week, one month or one year. Each day is an achievement! Don't forget to reward yourself. Do something purely for you. Use the spare time to run around with the kids or go to the park. Go out for dinner with your partner or with friends. ANYTHING that you enjoy doing.

Regarding stress... really... ok so we used to smoke more when stressed. Why? Because we made ourselves. The smoking didn't fix anything. We just told ourselves it did. Think back. After we had that smoke, was everything magically better?? Nope, it wasn't. I personally go for a walk. Nothing clears your head like a nice quick walk. Do star jumps or something silly to take your mind off of that cigarette. At the end of the day ask yourself what you can do about what is causing you the stress. Is it something you can change? If so.. make a plan of steps you need to put into place to change it. Can you control it? Sometimes things are simply out of our control. We all get bills come in all at once, most of us don't have the funds to pay them all by the due date. Dont let this get to you, it doesnt make you a bad person, it only makes you human. Obviously there are a bunch of things that can cause us stress. Sometimes just talking to someone can help. People really need to get over fears of opening up. It DOES NOT make us weak people. We are all human. And we are not supposed to bottle everything up. Write a diary if you have to (its like talking to someone) read it back a few days later... even a week and nine times out of ten you will wonder what you were panicing about. Just remember going back to the smokes will NOT help. At all. You all know this already... I just wanted to write it down =P

Good luck to everyone just beginning, well done to those who are well and truely into their journey and thankyou to those who have quit well before us and are leading the way to better lives for us all!  And to everyone... dont be afraid to be proud of yourselves and brag about it!!!

Hi EmKa82 - Well done on getting to 3 months. Your eally should be free and clear now. I was just thinking this morning that there is very little I have done in my life that has made me as proud of myself as I am for giving up smoking. It is one of the toughest things I have ever had to do and I am 56 years old so I have seen some tough in my lifetime. I was on the smokes for 35 years and have been off for 19 days, but hanging in there.

Congratulations! Keep it up! What kept me going was remembering those first few horrible days. Why go back and have to start it all over again? I can think of nothing worse! Keep going leighdo! In no time you will reach the big milestones then can count the years!
