Life after Champix

I have gone 89 days without a cig and finished the Champix about a week ago.
The cravings are still coming although I have been able to control them / myself, but I was wondering whether I should go for another lot of Champix to get me to 6 months smoke free.
Has anyone gone without the next lot of Champix and succeeded, or have others gone on to get Champix to get to 6 months free. Or has lack of Champix caused anyone to weaken.
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and am relying on the experience of others here for help.

Contrats Gerry on your 89 days. Sorry, I can't give any advice on the champix. All I know for certain is that the reason you haven't smoked for the past 89 days is because you haven't put a cigarette in your mouth, same as me. ;-)

Well done. I am now 244 days smoke free and over $4000 better off. I didn't use Champix, just willpower. I know that if I give in to the cravings I will be back where I started so that is all the motivation I need. When I get the craving I find something else to focus on.

Congrats on your achievment i agree with Mickey and lulu. You are the reason you haven't smoked so far !!!!! Be proud but if you need more champix that's still much better than putting a cig in your mouth.

I agree with Freakboy, if you need it then go for it. You're going great guns.
hugs xx

Hi Gerry, I did the 3 month course of champix and have now been smoke free for just over 5 months. I have to say that Mickey has hit it on the head. You havn't smoked because you have had the willpower to not put one into your mouth. And this is what will keep you smoke free for good!! I still get cravings from time to time but just distract myself long enough for it to pass. Have a chat with your doc tomorrow. If taking champix for another 3 months to ensure you don't smoke again then you may as well do it. You need to do whatever it takes and works for you. Best of luck, your doing so well:)
Do whatever you need to do. Just don't stick a smoke in your mouth. I only did 4 weeks of champix and I'm now 105 days. I still get cravings but they're getting fewer and further between - a couple of times a day maybe. You'll probably find that you won't feel any different off the champix but hey., everyone's different. Just don't use the lack of champix as an excuse to smoke!

Thanks for the comments. Doctor gave me prescription for another 3 months as I want every bit of help I can get. After being a smoker for over 50 years I don't want to slip up after having come this far.
I really think I could succeed without the champix but it is a little bit like a walking stick - every little bit helps.

I have just finished my second pack of champix and wont be going back to the Doctors for the next lot as they are making me sick on a daily basis. I feel I now have the motivation and courage not to get the urge to ever smoke again, as I am doing it for myself first. These comments are a Godsend. Thanks

I opened my last pack of ciggys may 21. That was my quit day too! I am now on ,y last champix as I have only been taking 1 a day for last cpl weeks due to nasty side effects. I haven't had a whole smoke for 3weeks now, had cpl drags here and there and they tasted nasty (thank god) .I am feeling very positive this week, happy I am no longer a smoker and grateful to champix for getting me here! I've had to weigh the options over the last cpl months....12 weeks of side effects from champix or a lifetime of horrible side effects from smoking......pills won. Good luck everyone and if I can do this with ease....you can too

hmmm interesting reads, thanks guys. I am just over a week quit, and starting to feel great.... who knew oxygen had so much going for it...haha...but I digress.
I found that I tend to forget my evening dose of champix, and I am still fine without it... I mean I still get cravings, my rage is off the charts... but I handle it...
If I keep forgetting the dose, might I as well stop the pills and go it alone? Don't know... Quit once before on Champix, and got right back to smoking after 8 months clean....
I feel more confident in quittting this time round however. Went out last night for a few serious drinks, with smokers at the table, and was able to resist...
Just have a feeling that it might be the champix causing the rage and persistent dull headache...
Would like to hear from you.
