Stop and live a full life

People who’ve been smoking a long time think it’s hard to stop or not worth it. I’d been smoking on and off for 50+ years. I wasn’t a heavy smoker but when I smoked, it was every day: 10-13 smokes a day.
6mths ago my doctor sent me for a CT scan, the results were concerning, the CT needed repeating in 3-6mths to monitor changes etc.
For 5 months I struggled with, how was I going to give up, all the sabotaging self talk about how hard it would be. I didn’t want patches, I really loved smoking and whatever else my crazy thoughts would come up with.
I knew I had to stop, too many reasons to stop, ASAP!!! full stop.
I read everything I could find about quitting and 1mth before the next Scan, I stopped. Sheer will and determination got me through, some days are harder than others. And the voice inside your head plays tricks on you. Just remind yourself ‘You weren’t born smoking’
Your lungs start repairing quickly. 2nd scan showed remarkable improvements in just 1mth.
