Earlier last year I experienced having a Bilateral Lung Collapse with a phemothorax on both lungs. I had tried to quit with patches and ended up relapsing until early December 23 when I experienced my right lung had collapsed again, so I was sent to RPAH in Sydney where I ended up having my right lung operated on and glued with this special Talc Glue to enable my lung to stay up. It's been 3 weeks post op now and I have been back on Nicabate patches since 4th December when I went to hospital suffering with a collapsed lung. I have worked out that I smoked for 35years and it appears that I have done quite alot of damage to my lungs. There are times through out the day I crave for a cigarette, but I don't give in due to what I went through in hospital, having a drain inside my right lung both before and after my operation and also seeing other patients around me experience the same. I do hope that my story helps others 🙏 to give up smoking and quit for at least their own health but

Unfortunately scare tactics do not generally work. In earlier years we felt immortal and that the unthinkable could never happen to us.......largely due to our fear that we cannot quit and so we become ostriches and try to bury our fear and hide the lack of confidence in ourselves to overcome this addiction.

I am sorry when you, I and others have to face the hard truths head on. Choose life over smoking and give your bodiy a chance to be revitalized without the deadly toxin administered daily. I am grateful to have survived a stroke after 40 plus years of making excuses to smoke.

Thankyou happiness for your reply, smoking is very addictive, however I'm so appreciative that I have overcome such a big operation. Now I can certainly allow My lungs to relax and try to breath a little better day by day.
