Ready to Quit

I've tried several ways of quitting. This time I have consulted my GP and I am going down the prescription method.
For me this is a reality check. My mother has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. So I'm not only doing it this time for me but as a promise to her.
Any positive feedback regarding Champix would be greatly appreciated. Please hold on to your negative ones at this time.
Ready to be Smoke Free

Hi, l just started using champax as well. I used it before and I found it to be really good, always take it with food so u don't experience nasusa. It can play around with your tummy a bit but passes quickly. I decided to stop now again after lots of failed attempts. My father died of lung cancer in 2001 and it was awful. Now I need to stop for my own health. I have zero circulation in my legs and now that it's getting colder lm in a lot of pain. I just decided that it is not worth it anymore, plus sneaking around these days 😂 like a leaper is embarrassing. Good luck 🤞 God Bless

Welcome . Any plan to quit smoking is a good one. Even nicotine products if used for a short period of time. Since Champix contains no nicotine I believe it to be a better choice because it will help lessen your enjoyment of smoking and possibly make it easier to quit. Just let loved ones know to watch for emotional changes, ie depression and suicidal thoughts. If you read the package you will know this. You will also know that any quit smoking aid is recommended to be in conjunction with councelling. That would be us possibly.
Understanding nicotine and yourself, your addiction give you the incentive to stay off nicotine. This mindset is necessary to sustain a quit. Without accepting your new status as a non-smoker you may feel urges forever. They are just thoughts, not physical, but we can learn to leave that kind of thinking behind. Life is great as a non-smoker without encumbrance. I always advice to remain in contact with this forum for your own good as well as to encourage others. We have the power to decide to gain back controll.

Welcome - Everything has a positive and a negative to it. Upside for Champix for me, was I have not smoked for 12 months, downside for me, too many nightmares, upside for me I quit using one tablet only, in the morning I continued on with the upside, as you can see the upside or positive feedback is more than the negative.
You need to create your own positive outlook before quitting and during the programme. This means having strategies in place and staying close to the forum, we are only human and at times we all need a helping hand along the way. Good Luck

Join the Champix club.. trust... it is great, I am almost at the end of two months on it and I smoked only 1 (my last) cig the day I had my first pill.. don’t worry about vivid dreams or anything else. It’s not as bad as it seems as an outsider. No horrible side effect that I have have been worrying about before starting it. In fact I do kinda feel I was way too paranoid and was using people’s mild reactions as an excuse to not get on it..
Just remember occasional craving you gotta fight yourself.. in the beginning

I'm currently on my second attempt of the champix, this time it has worked a charm. I think the more times you try the more determined you become. This time around I took champix and was vaping (not nicotine) just regular, I haven't smoked in more than 2 months now which is a miracle for me. I don't feel tempted to smoke either, and if I do I have my vape as a safety net. In the beginning I was vaping quite a bit and now I only vape maybe once a day sometimes not at all. As for the side effects I have pretty vivid dreams which isn't necessarily a bad thing... have had a very occasional nightmare tho. I have gained a bit of weight but that's from my own doing I use sugar as a way of coping. But honestly champix has been the best thing for me it changed my life and I can actually breathe properly again.. don't put off quitting any longer go to your gp and get on the champix. It's strange the first time I thought I was mentally ready to quit then I couldn't do it, THEN the second time I wasn't mentally prepared and then all of a sudden out if no where I just decided I didn't wanna smoke anymore. Good luck with everything and hope it works for you.
