It's getting tiring

Well, this is like my 7th try I think. I just look back sometimes when I was not smoking and I wonder how on earth did I agree to this bad habit. If I stayed so many years without smoking in my life, why can't I be like that again?! Anyway, will see how this time goes :)

This is not a vacation and time for relaxing. You need to make up your mind to quit smoking and be assertive. There is no reason to smoke and it is highly unnatural. So many benefits to be gained as a non-smoker. Absolutely no reason to smoke, as it does nothing for you but cause the cravings. Every few minutes the nico monster is begging to be fed. It is time to stop feeding the addiction and end it once and for all. It can be done, and you can do it too. In just 72 hours the nicotine can be out of your system and the addiction is ended. The behavioural changes we need to make are not so easy. It can be easy if your adopt the correct mindset. The understanding of the addiction and a genuine desire to be free of it will enable you to do so with ease. Read and Learn. Knowledge is power. Thing positive and it will happen.
I have a post called "If you've given up giving up. try this!" and also a book by Allan Carr. Both are helpfu in obtaining the correct mindset for this journey.
Quit once and stay quit!

I agree with the comments already made. For me too it was also a few times before I eventually succumbed again to the nicotine and tar stick. This time I realized that although I was honest in my wanting to quit my understanding of nicotine was sadly lacking. You need to think of Nicotine as the most dangerous thing or person that you can create, and The Book that Happiness has given you, can help in understanding more about the mental aspect of falsely thinking that you are depriving yourself. This forum has also helped this time around, and to date have not succumbed to any Nicotine or Tar fix for 72 days and still going strong, I still have a way to go but will be in constant touch when things get tough. Giving it another go should be congratulated so please try again.

Nicotine can be out of your body 72 hours after the last fix of nicotine. Drink plenty of water to help flush the toxins , eat a breakfast, as many of us have skipped it for years. This keeps the sugar -levels in balance and cut back on caffeine by half when you stop consuming nicotine, as nicotine used to diminish the effects of caffeine. Without doing these things, it is possible to get feelings associated with cravings.
Remember that cravings are merely thoughts. Turn your attention to other things and it will pass in a minute or two. Do deep breathing, dishes, chores, a phone call... anything to divert your mind from it. A craving is the nico monster begging for food. Deny him and he will go away much faster. Ignore him and he will stop begging. One puff will reignite those receptors that start shutting down in 72 hours and all shut down totally in 3 weeks. That is why we adopt the mantra NOPE... Not One Puff Ever!

Thank you so much for your messages :) I know that there is no grey area, you either want this to go away or not, true, but this is addiction we are speaking of. I am really just taking this one step at a time. Finishing up ALLEN CARR'S EASY WAY TO STOP SMOKING, for the second time :)) Day 2 of smoke-free :D

we're all cheering you on. one day at a time is how you do it. its well documented that nicotine can be out of the system within 72 hours. just hang in for the next day to pass and if your determination is strong enough you can be free of the addiction FOREVER.

Hi. Like Red-67, I quit cold turkey and am approaching 4 yeas quit after 45 years of stupidity. But you really must want to quit. Hang in there and find your own reason to quit.
