I started smoking ( Peer pressure) at about 16 yrs of age. I didn't smoke a lot (maybe 20 a month) up until I was 25. I then quit (cold turkey) for 15 yrs. I had a cigarette just before my 40 th birthday "BANG" I found myself smoking 15 a day. For the next 10 yrs I was hooked. I promised myself that I would stop on my 50 th and to date have been successful. I used lozengers for the first 6 weeks and got to the point where I did not even need them, Some people keep an unopened pack of cigarettes as a reminder that they are stronger than cigarettes, I keep an unopen pack of lozengers. I have had ups and down with my journey but now feel better for it.

What has impacted me so much is seeing the father of a guy who works for me, this was about 5 months ago. I am 50 and still pretty fit, he was 61 and he had Terminal Lung Cancer. To see this man wasting away scared the living daylights out of me. Unfortunately he passed 3 months ago. I vowed never to let my own young son see his dad fade away.
