Probably smoked away a half million dollars

I am 70 and have been a heavy smoker since I started high school back in 1965. They use to be so cheap around 25 cents a pack when smoking was cool.

They have gone up in price every year since then and when they hit $7 a pack here on April 1st, I quit cold turkey. No patches, no gum, just told myself NO MORE.

Been wanting a cigarette every minute since and am hoping the cravings will eventually go away. Just bought a BRAND NEW car with the money I'm saving because the car payment is less than half what I was spending on cigarettes each month

Thanks Dolly66, same to you.

Having a rough morning today, having to suck on a straw pretending it's a cigarette. Mornings are the worst because I use to smoke a whole pack before noon with my two pots of coffee every day.

I am 4 days into a quit smoking attempt and i slipped up abit this morning I certainly can't quit cold turkey it's just too unbearable without using NRT I too am worried about my health especiallly my heart as i sometimes get chest pains and am on medication but smoking makes it harder for the medicine to work i can however go without the patches as they don't really help that much keep up the good work and we all support each other on here

colloquial, I didn't know $7.00 a pack was a bargain lol. That is Iowa prices.

Just think how much money I would be saving now If I lived in NY or CA when I quit! :)

Cigarette prices in Australia are ludicrous goldengreeke! One of the many reasons, health being first of course, that many Aussies are kicking the habit - at $1 per cigarette it's any wonder!
