Need help with Nicabate Quitting

Hi Everyone. I have not smoked for about 3 years (was 20 a day then)...I am now fully addicted to the 1.5mg nicabate lozenges 20 or more a day. As i have read in other posts, I am popping them one after the other and am SO SICK of this habit. yesterday was closer to 30 something. I am also stealing them because i cannot afford to pay for them, I feel so awful about this. last night I felt so sick. I feel so ashamed about stealing these lozenges and it has become such a habit. I have had enough of this shame and the health issues. I am looking for any tips to quit please. I think I will start with wearing a 14mg patch then go to a 7mg after a fortnight. Then I expect three or four days of extreme irritability after quitting nicotine which is controlling me. I will try to buy mints instead maybe. This is having a HUGE negative impact on my life. Thanks everyone.

Hi, I agree with Red-67, the fact you're posting here means you are well aware of your addiction and can take control of it!
Might be time to see the doc, it can't hurt. Maybe see if you're a candidate for Champix.
I've just started reading Allen Carrs book "Easy way to stop smoking" too early to say it works but has brilliant reviews..would still apply to the lozengers. Good luck.

Definitely go to the doctor Mark, you have already taken a big step wanting some help, your GP can take it that step further.
Don't go on to the patches as they still have nicotine in them & you want to steer away from that. Find out if Champix is the way to go, there is no nicotine in that. There can be some side effects though & it's not for everyone. I have just finished my 12 week course & experienced no side effects at all, so you too could benefit as well. Doesn't hurt to try right?
I really hope all goes well for you & you finally beat this once & for all.

Thank you all so much...I will update you how I go...you have all been a posistive help. Thanks Red, Julie and Ronyag. I think just going on 14 mg patches for a week, then half, then half again then quit will be my choice.
i will try and get Allen Carrs book. i think one addiction at a time. My first will be alcohol because I cut my forehead three days ago and have 12 stitches on a 8cm wound. It is stitched well and healing. Thanks again guys:)
