Enjoy new freedom

Hi folks. I'm back in your hands. I stupidly deleted my account by accident but icanquit have unblocked it for me. Now 2 years and 6 days quit and the support here in the early days was fantastic. Very rarely think of a cigarette and the freedom is the best prize. Great to be back. Dobbin.

Hi Dobbin. Welcome back. A blast from the past. I rarely post because there are few "recognisable" faces... I am forever grateful to those who supported me a few 100 days ago. At about 840 days and $18250 I couldn't be happier knowing I may live long enough to spend it... I think you may be some 100 days behind me and am happy to lead the way forward. Just keep following. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Lia. Great you are still here. Yup 100 days behind you and really feeling the benefits. Very rarely think of a cigarette but it can catch you out when unexpected. Just one puff would send us back to square one like snakes and ladders.

Hey Dobbin, nice to hear from you again. When i joined this site you were heading towards your first year and what an inspiration you were back then to me and many others. Some, unfortunately we do not hear from but that is not to think on the negative side. I just closed in on 14mths and do hope one day i can achieve the length both you and Lia have attained. All the best Dobbin and hope to hear from you again. Cheers.

Hey Johnnie. Great to see you are still here and winning the battle. Sure , quite a few have gone but this is very much a personal battle. The help here has been fantastic and although my account was closed I could still see those like yourself who were winning. As a warning if you press the " close account " button by mistake or through curiosity you cannot just reinstate it. It can only by done by contacting icanquit directly. Good to be back though.

Hi Dobbin & Johnnie. Good to hear your views. So few of us returning to post. Just because we have achieved Hundreds of days smoke free does not mean we are immune. Always good to be reminded others are still on the quit trail. Otherwise it can get lonely at the top and one could easily slip just imagining others had because they no longer post. I know we must stand on our feet at sone stage, but me, 45 years of stupidity, what is 28 months of saying no to nicotine.. This Isaac new experience! Glad I have buddies still on this journey.

Hi Dobbin. I really like the sound of the three mustquitters... We will hopefully remind each other of the fact. Hope there are more than the 4% to 6% long term quitters on this site. Would hate knowing my early research / prophecies were true. But I think I am not far off. How lucky are we. Must keep going.

Hi Lia. I think by the nature of the addiction that quitters coming and going will always be the case. I found for me that this site and the help from others was the key to staying quit. This , of course, may not be the case for others. I know that I really meant it when I decided to quit and sought out online help. Not sure about the percentage success rate but in England smoking is definitely on the decrease. It is now totally unacceptable in most areas of life to smoke. Upwards and onwards.
