After 45 years of smoking it has now been 99 days smoke free. Wifey still smokes but not in front of me. No more coughing for me. I am a little out of breath sometimes for some reason after climbing stairs, I am sure it will go away after a while. Feeling a little bit fat. Not surprised how ever because the first week of not smoking all I wanted was pineapple donuts. Could not get enough of pineapple donuts. And maybe the odd chocolate covered one as well with jam inside. Didn't crave anything else except pineapple donuts. This craving has now gone. Need to walk in morning but a bit cold. Rather be a little chubby wubby than a smoker. The smell of smoke does not bother me nor does it make me want the odd puff.At least half time at the MCG,I am not one of those anymore rushing to have the 3 cigaros before the game starts again. However there is a donut van near the smokers area...........mmmmmmm

Hey Tony, when i quit just short of a year back i too was a cake junkie. Not donuts but beautiful baked cheesecake and an exotic sweet called canoli. I too added a few pounds but have now come back to my original weight from when i quit smoking. It is ok for first say 6 mths to eat sweets and whatever you desire to kill the cravings but then you need to take hold and eat cakes in moderation and doing away with all form of sugar to start to control your weight. Walking half hr a day also helps immensely. I smoked for 52 yrs before calling it quits and it is now that cravings barely exist. Some habit still about but manageable. Good luck and yes we can quit if we really try.

Well Done Tony, I also smoked for a long time and finally gave up for good 18 months ago. Keep going. I have read you can feel a little breathless when you first give up, I don't know if that's true. Its great to be free of nicotine!

Thanks Wendy. Had a chest Xray before I quit and Doc said everything was good.I do suffer from low blood pressure which does not effect me at all. (I used to tell everyone the reason I smoke is to increase my blood pressure) Last check up was the day I quit and everything was tiggity boo

569 days smoke free. Wifey still smokes. Apart from Richmond losing this year, I am feeling quite chuffed.
