Giving up is not as tough as remaining an addict...

Forget about giving up being tough. What could you do with $10 000 pa? Mind boggling. Could it be a pay rise? Could it be used to boost retirement savings and superannuation if you plan to live longer? Could it be used for an OS trip where you don't have to be a social outcast or to panic about locating the smokers booth at an airport? As life expectancy increases, who wouldn't want to be a there for the long ride. After 622 days I hope the emphysema scare has disappeared. And I hope my messages have inspired others or made them re think their thinking...

Hi Lia. Totally agree. I knew deep down I was spending inordinate amounts of money but buried the reality deep inside. All that extra money is great and the sense of freedom from the bondage of cigarettes is a very special gift indeed. Thanks for you help and others to get almost 18 months smoke free. Dobbin

When we were the smokers, we would do just about do anything for that fix of Nicotine, it was just the way it was.

Its great that there is a group on the go that we are a part of where we can come for advice, encouragement and support, and somewhere just to blurt out.

We can all bounce off one another.

Today i am 514 days or 72 weeks free from smoking and so darn proud of this very major milestone in my personal life..

And my $$$$ stash is growing nicely.

Well done Jenno I really share your sense of achievement and have journeyed this far with yourself and Lia.

Once you are away from the cravings and incessant obsession of being a smoker it becomes so clear what a rediculous habit it was. Although I knew for years how owned I was by nicotine the process of rationalisation and the fact that millions of others were partaking kept common sense at bay.

Hi Lia and everyone on this site. When you really think about the money you save when you quit it is mind boggling when you say to yourself how much money you have saved. But for me it was not about the money but for health alarm warnings. Smoked for 53yrsand i tell you smoking catches up with you. However, i do not want anyone encouraged by the number of yrs me and some people on this site smoked for as being a long term situation whereas one may say to him or her self "I have'nt been smoking that long so i'll be right". What i am saying is not everyone is the same........smoking attacks your weak spot and everyone has one. Health problems could arise 1yr or 50 yrs later when one is a smoker. So,best thing is to stop with determination whilst going is good.....do not leave it too late. Hope that what i have said makes sense and can be of assistance especially to the younger people. Cheers.
