I am almost 24 hours smoke free, I must admit the cravings have been bad today, I almost went out & bought a pack of smokes.

Hi Wendy, on to day 3, it all seemed a bit better today. I'm coughing a lot though worse than ever. How about you, how long have you been off the fags ?

Well day 4, the cravings were really bad this morning, almost got in the car & went & bought a pack. I keep think if I get through the next day the craving may disappear.

Hi jennybu,

Im afraid the cravings will be with you for a long time yet... Im day 72 today and I still get mental cravings - not as regular but I may get a very strong one once a day / once every 2nd day.

In the beginnings you will experience BOTH physical withdrawal and mental triggers. After this (approx. 2-4 weeks) it will get a lot easier as you will only have the mental triggers to deal with - but don't get me wrong - its still a difficult journey.

You need to really want to quit. You will need to do whatever it takes for you to fight this battle. Read previous posts on here - go far back. You will read what people experienced at different times on their journey's and perhaps you will relate to a few or at least get an idea of what's coming up.

Be strong and keep posting!!!

Thanks Crasher, I'm expecting it to be very tough but am quite determined to quit. I will take your advice & go back & read the posts. You have done very well you should be very proud of yourself.
