I am now 36 days smoke free. The ad on telly about smokes and cancer is enough for anyone to give up. Maybe one should record it and then if you feel tempted you can look at the ad. The lady pouring her liquid food down a tube because of stomach cancer is enough for me. I am feeling stronger every day and of course, healthier. Cough is subsiding and my breathing is much better. Still hear a bit of wind when I am breathing but hoping that will go eventually. Good luck to all.

Well done on your 36 smoke free days, it's strange the TV ads have never had an effect on me, when I was smoking it would just make me reach for them, even now these ads don't really seem to register. Probably something about head in the sand attitude or it won't happen to me.

You definitely have your head in the sand. If that lady at the table pouring fluid into her tube doesn't do it for you then what is your problem? Have you given up or not? That ad made me feel sick and I would hate to end up like that.

Hi Sagittarius, I am 85 days smoke free, don't get me wrong when I see the ad and the look on her face feel for her. However, I am not affected to the same extent as you are , one thing the stories on this forum show us is we are all different. Each person views the world and there surrounding differently it doesn't make anyone of us right or wrong just different. We are all on the same journey, sometimes we take different paths. I did not wish to offend you anymore than I think you wanted to offend me. Again congratulations on your achievement 36 days

Yep, I'm with you guys. It made me go outside and have a smoke but I've not seen the "tube into the stomach" add. Perhaps it's only in Australia, I'm in the UK and our anti-smoking adverts aren't quite as brutal, though they should be.

Well done, Sag, excellent that you've stayed off them for so long and if that advert keeps you off them then that's brilliant.

The ads on tv, just like the morbid/gross images on the packs made no diff to me....i would change channel or like others, go have another smoke.....ignorance is bliss. However, when I see the ads now I take more note and feel a sense of relief and pride.

Congrats and well done an an awesome achievement...keep it up Sag.

No offence taken Storm, apology accepted. Head in the sand was your comment. Thanks to all other comments and it's good that we are there for each other with tips etc. Yes I do agree with you all. The ads would come on and I would reach for a smoke. I think I was saying 'who cares, it won't happen to me'.

I was watching a hospital programme the other night (real life not drama) where the poor guy at 45 was told that radiotherapy was not reducing his tumour and now all they could give him was palliative care!! He was filmed during treatment still smoking. Then told he had months to live...You just never know when its your turn!! 108 days smoke free for me and I hope that i've quit in time and it's never going to be my turn. Incidentally, the ads and pics never bothered me either when I was smoking lol
