I can't breath

I am planning on quitting in two days. I am fearful that I will fail. My urge to smoke is so strong. I have a hard time breathing and I will still smoke. I don't want to pass my addiction on to my grandsons and I want to live to see them grow up. I don't know if this site will help me, but I'm going to try.

Larney, thank you for the support. I am going to focus on the positive. I don't know about a quit plan. I am going to quit with the patches and I've cut out one of my usual before bedtime smokes. I quit for about 3 years and once I smoke one cig I couldn't stop. I made a list of reasons I want to quit. I'm going to keep it with me so I can look at it when the urge to smoke hits me. I have patches and I'm thinking about getting an e-cig.

Welcome, wishing you well on your journey. I found that first 24 hours the hardest to get through, I have been taking Champix and although it is not for everyone, it worked for me. The first few weeks I also used NRT in the form of lozenges, I purchased an e-cigarette (nicotine Free) in the lead up to Easter because I knew I would be having drinks, I have used it a couple of times when drinking and found that it helped me no temptation at all to smoke cigarettes.
Everyone is so different, find the path that works for you, read the posts and comments on this site and take what you need to make this a successful journey for you. Keep posting and sharing we are all here to help

Hello, like the other's said, focus on positives, do what's best for you as far as you method of quitting. Also useful are chewing gum, sugarless lollies....even a toothpick is something hand to mouth. I am using champix but weaning off at the moment and doing really well. I also use this mantra........NOPE....Not One Puff Ever!! Well done for taking the first step and good luck.

yeah breathing is important I know after 63 days I am still struggling for air, but its getting better oh so slowly.
try and get out of your chair??
you cant right >>
so the answer is stop smoking or smoke.
I might sound harsh but I am right and when you are done you are done that's how it was for me.

Hi ya, I think that the one day at a time mantra can work well. Don't worry about tomorrow or next week, just today. Once you get through the first day, thed second is easier. Time your craves - they don't actually last long. Each time you move through a crave, a future crave is being erased
