smoking triggers other diseases

Hi fellow quitters,
Firstly thank you for letting me join your group in Australia. I saw it and told the quitting nurse what a great site it is. I have quit for 6 weeks now after about 40 years of smoking with a 2 year break about 10 years ago. I have recently been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis which is an autoimmune condition, one of the main triggers for even getting it is thought to be smoking. There is medication so its not the end of the world, but its just another reason to quit especially if you are a women as women smokers are the ones that get it. I did spend about 2 months in Australia in 2009 went right down through the middle by road loved it and hope to be back for a visit in a year or two. Stay smoke free.

Welcome to this page where you can share your thoughts and ideas.
A great achievement not smoking for 6 weeks,
They blame all ills n ailments on smoking, but then again they have to blame something and why not smoking.
Keep up your great work in quitting.

Hi and thank you for your comments. I feel really sick today not sure if its quitting the smoking or the medications I have to take. Today is mothers day over here and my present is a trip to hairdressers tomorrow having everything done Courtesy of my son. Keep quitting it will be alright in the end. Debbie
