Just heard that Labor has suggested if elected they will raise the price of a packet of cigarettes to $40! This instead of the GST increase. Can you imagine? Either there will be a lot of very impoverished smokers or this site will become very busy. A smoker already has chosen to take a $200 pay cut. This could blow out to well over $300 a week? Those of us on the quit trail should remain there. Regardless, the 12 1/2% increase will continue. I hope everyone is enjoying the extra revenue.

Same hete(Ireland) They're not really interested in the smoker, more about increased tax revenue, call me cynical but when you want a smoke you are going to have one no matter what the cost!

At one pack a day that would amount to $14,560 per annum. That is a frightening amount to go up in flames. I am enjoying the extra revenue.

I am enjoying not having to pretend to friends and family how much I was paying for cigarettes.
