I found that when I quit last time, a couple of years ago, I was busier and got more done

As it is only my second day, I really do not have any hints. Iam the sort of smoker that can go all day without a cigarette, have no cravings or even want one.....until I have a glass of wine or two. My husband is a smoker. We tend to use this time to catch up on the days happenings. I have quit about 5 times ( am 54, didnt start smoking till 22} the longest i gave up for was six weeks - drank mineral water :) felt great and motivated to do more. I cannot remember why I started again, I think we went out.

I think you are probably not even addicted to nicotine, you just have this 'habit' thing. I am quite sure you'll be able to stop smoking and still have your glass of wine. If I stood in your shoes, I probably wouldnt't even bother.

Hi Bub. Like you I could go for long periods without wanting or needing a cig. I used to smoke with coffee, wine, when I was bored and stressed. Sometimes I would force one down because I had not had one all day. Now I'm learning to break the habits I associate with smoking. If you only have that one association, wine, you'll be fine. Good luck!!

Thanks, yep i also think it is more habit than nicotine, guess thats why ive avoided patches etc. Anyway day three only, have been pretty tempted tonight, like many others out there; a tiny bird keeps saying " just one wont hurt", hmmm - i am trying to ignore that chatty nosy bird ! I can have up to 10 or so cigs in a night after none during the day. every day/night is different. Yes breaking that habit, thats the secret! good luck to all !!
