Need to start

Hi everyone,I have had to start this journey for my health and nagging family.I have a real hacking cough and I had a cancer scare also my niece saw a physic whom also encouraged to give the sticks up.You know I don't even like the taste of smoking its all in the head, when experiencing stress I think they relief it but who am I kidding .My son really hates my smoking and coughing so here we go I started with patches and cut my smoking to half I reduced the cigarettes daily now today is my first day smoke free can I make it need to get the brain distracted .

Good luck Papa1, I am on 5 weeks and 4 days, but I'm not counting. Your story is so much like my husband's (hacking cough) and mine (getting nagged by the family). my husband was on the Champix and has been smoke free since Xmas, I started on the patches but decided to continue cold turkey as I was allergic to the glue on the patches. It can be so hard some days but mostly I am OK, I have no ciggies in the house or lighters nor ash trays, fortunately no one I know smokes and that all helps. You can make it, you have to. Do it for "YOU" good luck

Thanks Jenny s I realised about 1hr ago I wasn't wearing a patch debating whether to bother now .My daughter smokes but it's not bothering me yet .Congradulations to you every hour counts

You can do this, good job on your quit. I quit over 6 months ago, lots of changes took place over this time frame and still going. No more smokers cough for me too. You got this.

Good Luck Papa1, you are on the right track. Changing a few habits helps a lot in the beginning. I swapped my morning coffee & cigarette for a walk each morning and still going. I've lost 5 kilos so far in 10 weeks and feeling great & that's purely from walking & not drinking as much. No strenuous exercise at all. I still have my morning coffee but I very rarely think about having a cigarette with it now. Change a few patterns and you'll be surprised. Good luck with it.

Hi Sam still going had a bit of a tough day yesterday but I survived .Hope all is going well with you :)
