I stopped smoking because i noticed a constant cough starting and working in Health Care i know this is not normal for someone my age and was just feeling rubbish everyday from smoking, i know being Aboriginal it's not going to add to the value of my health only deteriorate it faster due to the Health history of my people, i also attended a Deadly Choices training course and i want to be involved, wanted to be an ambassador for my people and our youth, so i set a date and got my mind ready, just kept telling myself every time i felt like a smoke, that " this is my own body and i control what goes into it, i don't want anymore bad things, its not healthy and its not a good image " i have been off smoke for 1 full day almost 2 and i dont think ill pick up another smoke again :)

Good for you x I like the the idea of telling yourself that you are in control, I will use that. I think we feel like the smokes are in control but of course its us who choose to smoke! Keep it up ;-)

thanks :) also having supportive people around you is key!! my partner is a smoker but doesn't smoke around me, he understands how important this is for me and that's awesome :) 3rd day now and i feel like i'm constantly fighting with my mind every single second, but as always i am in control its my body , remember that and you to will do just fine :)

The experts recommend drinking fruit juice for the first few days as they say it helps clean out the nicotine from our systems - it did help me and I've made it to day 15

Hi Shaunalouise, Congratulations on your quit! Keep up the good work. You can do it!! Making decisions for yourself for not smoking definitely is the right decision, and a smart one, too. I quit smoking 6 months ago coldturkey, and its the best thING ever. I tell myself that I am in charge, and I stick by it. Well, drink plenty of water, and lots of exercise. Good luck to you.
