Im a 36 year old male married with two beutifull children, I have decided to quitt smoking as off the 24th August, so im a little nervous. 20 year half pack a day smoker sees me now wanting to change for my kids and be healthier for my kids. Im a scaffolder so im very fit, but a couple of friends dying of cancer has really opened my eyes up to asking myself, what would my family do without me or even worse see me suffer from being sick.

I hope i can do this, any thoughts on medicated help, or cold turkey.

Look forward to hearing for you.

Ray

Hi there. My circumstances are pretty much the same to you. I have a husband and 2 little girls and smoked half a pack a day. I 'quit' 5 days ago. I actually got a really bad cold/cough and was having trouble breathing, this has turned out to be the kick in the butt I needed to seriously think of quitting. I'm trying cold turkey but different people (like yourself) will have better luck with other options.

Wishing you all the best :)

Hey Ray, like yourself I have two young girls and I smoked for nearly 30 years. I tried champix, patches, gum, etc. You name it, I tried it. I eventually kicked the habit cold turkey and am 10 months with no smokes. What worked for me was I started exercising from day one. I have now set up a home boxing gym and run every second day and love it. I found that between week 2 - 4 was the hardest. Just remember if it doesn't stick the first time then keep trying over and over. Good luck and remember your inspiration.
