Cold Turkey First Try

This is my 4th day of not smoking after 20 years of smoking. I was a 1/2 pack a day smoker. I decided to quit smoking coz I know its bad for my health. I am doing ok so far... and I plan to take it one day at a time. Exercise, and on line support group helps me a lot with not smoking. My GOAL is to stay smokefree for as long as I live!

hi jojie! congratulations! i am also on my 4th day today of quitting after 20yrs of smoking. big change hey! unfotunately i found out last fri i have emphysema & i quit instantly. Ive been planning it for a while but left it 2 late. Well its not really 2 late because im doing it now & seeing a naturopath who can stop it progressing. I wish i had have stopped earlier but have to focus on the future now, not the past. im using champix & patches, couldnt do it cold turkey, I have high anxiety. Your doing very well & you must be a very strong person so you should do fine. just thought id drop you a line, hang in there & wish u all the best. deb

Hi Debbie! congratulations to you too!!! You should be very proud of yourself for quitting!!! However you do it is fine just remember you can achieve anything you want in this world and taking care of yourself is your number one goal. Coldturkey was easy for me coz im married to a non-smoker and no alcohol, he happens to be a health nut(vegetarian n yogi) as well. Everyday i smoked he would say something bad about it. We exercise alot, and i find myself cutting my workout time short. I feel tired easyly and out of breath when i was smoking, and he would coment on this of course. Also, months prior to my quitting smoking, i also stopped drinking coffee and sodas.I drunk plenty of water. So I figure if I can Quit all these bad habits, I can also quit smoking. I was also a closet smoker I dont smoke in my car, inside the house, or out in public, around our kids or him. I think I was smoking more out of boredom, or me just being stupid and stubborn. I bit nicotine cravings by exercise, on line support from people like you, and from my husband for not giving up on me, and educating myself about this addiction. I wished you all the luck in this world, and BEST OF HEALTH!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Take care of yourself, and thanks for your support. Jojie

Hi Nitesh, Congratulations for not smoking. I have a kid in Senior College and she doesnt smoke. My point is.. nobody can make you do things you dont want to. Everytime you start smoking, make sure you also make a big effort to stop. Quitting smoking will not kill you...but smoking will.
Congratulations!! I'm in this fight with you. I am on day 2. We CAN do this

Hi Serial Quiter! YES WE CAN!!! to be honest I did not even feel any cravings today (5th day). I walked 3 miles early this morning, and went to work. I feel great, like I said I can finally breath. Good luck to you and dont let STINKY NICOTINE get hold of you again. Being a non- smoker is AWESOME...is all I can say.

Thnx jojie..n hi serial quiter...I am feeling very relaxed now coz of not smoking...now I am looking at my health n want to get my good looks back...because when we smoke in the past we go only for smoke n smoke ...never go out in a good restaurant for a long lolz....so now its time to make wallet havier....be strong

HI joje
im a 36 year old male, 20 year smoker starting my journey to quitting starts on the 24th of august I have done so in the past and lasted 2 years, im always concerned about my health and wanting a new start. im a construction worker so I don't really no how it all going to go, I found last time the cravings would last whole days, and most of the time it would be a couple of hours during the day. im not looking forward to them craving attacks. Anyway good luck.

Hi raymondodea! You didnt tell us how your going to quit, coldturkey, or with nicotine aids. I have not have cigs more than a week now, and I really feel great, I have very little cravings. I exercise alot. I also dont drink coffee or soda, I would have glass of wine once or twice a month. I also remind myself how bad is smoking for my health everyday by reading on it through my cell. Quitting coldturkey also was a good decision on my part its a all or nothing kind of desicion. Its also quick recovery I felt my body healing and responding in minutes without the TOXINS and NICOTINE. Like I said in the past quitting smoking will not kill me but continuing my smoking will. So I was very determined with my desicion. I feel great, my husband is very happy, our daughter is very happy. I will not touch a cigarette again! I wish you best of luck, dont let STINKY NICOTINE beat you!!! If I can do it, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!!! Keep in touch

Hi Nitesh, congratulations!!! I am sure you are very proud of yourself for not smoking, Good Job!!! You are right about being relaxed I feel the same way, and like you said; our skin starts clearing up...that is very true, coz now the oxygen can go through our bloodstream without the interferance of cigarettes toxins....you are so right!!! and more money in our pockets :))))Well I am a smokefree, and are you!!!!!!!!!!
