Role model

Posted in Reasons to quit
schedule 12 Jun 2014

I am hoping and praying to quit smoking because of health, financially, but most important my nieces. I have 3 blessings. A 1 year old, 3 year old and 4 year old, all girls :) my family has taught them that it's "gross" to smoke after the oldest was picking up cigarette butts. I want to be a good role model for them. I would never want them to think its okay to damage your body in any way, especially a way that ANYONE can prevent. I hope to have the willpower and strength to get through this for myself and for them.

Good on you for wanting to quit! Check out the different options out there to help you if you are not feeling your willpower is strong enough. I am using champix and on day 23 smoke free, it is working great for me but there are side effects for some people so make sure u do all your research. Whatever u decide, just know that u can do it and there's lots of people here to support you!

Thank you 😃I know it sounds bad, but I honestly don't feel that I have the willpower so I may try the medicine. The only reason why I haven't is because I heard it was like $200 a prescription. But I'm definitely going to ask about it. Thank you so much for your support and concern!

Think how much cigs would cost u over a few months only and then u will say its worth the money even tho I know it's a big chunk to hand over. You have to be careful with champix, make sure you talk to your dr. To make sure it is right for you. Seems lots of us have nausea or headaches from it but generally speaking we all think it's worth it. But there are ways to combat the side effects too, like take the pill with a meal really helps. Champix really does something amazing tho when it comes to killing the cravings. All the best to you!

Well yes, that is definitely true. I didn't think of it like that. I have an appt with my dr Friday and I will definitely ask about it. It would be worth it, even with the side effects. Do you smoke at all on it or did you at first?

With champix you typically take it for 14 days then on day 15 you quit and for a lot of people, including me, by day 12 the cigs tasted bad and although I was all set to "power smoke" thru my last wknd, I just couldn't do it. There are tricks to champix, so if you decide to go that route let us now on this site and we can give you lots of tips! Talk to your Dr. And see if it is the right med for you. Good luck!

I have an appointment in 2 weeks with my doctor and I will definitely ask about it. Because I had set a quitting date, but that was yesterday :/ I have slowed down but still didn't quit. I don't think I can do it cold turkey so hopefully I can get on this medicine and enjoy life, smoke free!🚬🔫💊👍 haha 😏
