Why this will be the last time!

This is probably at least my fifth attemp to quit and this time I'm going to do everything to make it final.
i have spent all day panicking as to whether I was about to have a stroke. My blood pressure has been erratic and I've had all other symptoms at some stage. Apparently two of the main reasons for "stroke"are high blood pressure and smoking.....so today is the day :)
i have a beautiful daughter who is only 7 yrs old and I think I owe it to her to make sure I'm going to be here a lot longer.

I'm 45 and also have hypertension and this is the main reason I gave cigs away over 6 months ago. Also have two young daughters aged 4 and 8 so I know where your coming from. Like you I made several attempts to give the habit away before it finally took. Good luck and never give up trying. Keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks for the inspiration Tinman. Can I ask you what you did to quit? Patches, champix, cold turkey?
Congratulations on your success :)

Cold turkey. It's tough but I think it's the only way to give up. Also exercised the day I gave it away. Running in the Gold Coast 10km in July this year. I couldn't run 1km 7 months ago. Just remember what your inspiration is :). Good luck.

Hi Jul
I stopped on Champix 311 days ago. I smoked for +-30yrs, only thing I regret is not quitting years ago. Like Tinman I started exercising and can do cardio without feeling like Im going to faint.
Good luck with your journey - I really hope that you manage to stop - its worth everything that you go through in the process.

Congratulations Mix and thanks for the support. I threw out all of my cigarettes that I had in the house today as the temptation is too high. I have the worst headache so it is actually easy as the last thing I want at the moment is nicotine at the moment.

hi jul you have made a wise choice I gave up smoking in 2011 after having a heart attack , but since then march 2012 my mother had a stroke about 2 weeks ago we lost her at the age of 74 which is still pretty young. but her last 2 years was living in a nursing home so one thing don't want is to have a stroke it really cripples you physically and worse mentally anyway its a long story but what happened to my mother devastated my brother and I. good luck jul.
