I never thought smoking would affect my health. Im not silly i knew it affected other peoples health but just didnt think it would happen to me. I was having trouble every morning with a bad cough and trouble breathing but put it down to a chest infection. I finally went to the doctors and had a series of tests and it came back i had cronic broncitus and early emphasemia. So without choice i had to give up a habit of over 40 years, I was told I would not get better but if I gave up I wouldnt get any worse. Having trouble breathing was the incentive to do something there is no worse feeling and I didnt want to get even worse.

Mate I think your going to be really surprised just how much better you are going to feel. I am an asthmatic who used to smoke and my asthma is never going to go away yet I feel heaps better now I'm not smoking! Coming up to when I gave up my chest infections were getting worse with the Doctor prescribing prednosone and giving me several stern warnings about the dangers of smoking. Mate I honestly felt like crap! Somedays it was such an effort to do anything without wheezing and having to stop and have a rest. It's been just over 5 months now and it is a massive improvement. I can breathe at last! Walking, bikeriding just doing normal everyday things are just so much easier and more enjoyable. When I was smoking my asthma medication would only last as little as 17 days. Now it lasts me 40 days - just goes to prove how much better I am breathing. Hang in there, take one day at a time and remember there is life after smoking! Cheers
