Emphysema scare

Hi all, 3weeks ago I went to the Dr for a random check up and 2 hours later was told that I had the onset of Emphysema. I have smoked for 45 years and usually around 15 a day, less when I was working. To be told this scared the life out of me. I have a lovely family and 2 beautiful grand babies, whom I live for. I knew I had to quit straight away. My doctor was very supportive and gave me everything I needed to get started. First thing I noticed was my appetite became very good, my taste buds were working again. I had been underweight for quite a few years and in 3 weeks I have gained 6 kilos, fantastic. I am feeling much better, breathing easier, only using my puffers if needed. I have a lot of energy now and seem to be much calmer in myself. I still have the occasional craving for a ciggie, when this happens I make myself do something to distract the thought and the craving passes. I am so happy that I have given up smoking, I feel new again, re born even and I will never take this habit up again. My emphysema will not get better but it won't get any worse either, as long as I don't smoke. I have started to reward myself, I have had my hair done, bought a new top and in a few weeks I will take a trip to see my daughter and grand babies and spoil them. I QUIT and now I AM LIVING!
