Why I decided to quit

I thought it was time to share my story.
Today it has been 174 days smoke free and I feel great. Don't get me wrong, hasn't been easy but something I should of done much earlier. I was in Singapore last year for a wedding and I kept coughing with the humidity, airconditioning and smoking.. Not good so threw the smokes in the bin, and haven't looked back since. Cold Turkey. No relapse but have gained weight.
My mum smoked for 51 years quite heavily and she got sick and was told to quit, hence she did. Old turkey too. She was the one we all thought was weak and wouldn't last, 2 years on she has not smoked once.
She inspired me and I feel much better as well as socially too. Can't see the savings in my bank account though.
I have had some stressful things happen and could of easily picked up a smoke to ease the stress but no, been out socially and on a holiday oversees where everyone was drinking but didn't start so I am proud.
Too all those who are trying to quit, it's hard but all you can do is try

Well done, 174days cold turkey. you should be proud. I am on day 1 of cold turkey. I am a single mum of 3 young children. I watched my mother pass from cancer not so long ago and I never want to put my children in that situation if I can help it. I feel selfish for smoking. time to put me and my kids first

Deesea77 just read your first post... You are doing it all for the right reasons and yes when you do see a love one sick or in your case pass away, sadly it's the wake up call we all need... Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
I look forward to reading your progress

People with some time up seam so much more emotionally balanced than I am at the moment. I am confused and still making poor decisions.

Penelopejane... Why do you want to quit..... Once you determine the main reason, then start from there
