Wanting to quit so bad

Hi there
I am going to start using Champix, but to be honest with you, I am petrified. All the stories you keep hearing are terrifying, so I am a little nervous about taking these.

Hi Hales
I started my new non smoking life using Champix and stopped smoking 0n day 12, up to about day 20 I was perfectly fine, my experience after that was very manageable but there were side effects, unusual dreams mainly, hallucinations a couple of times but that may also have been a couple of glasses of red wine to many, (I am now 6 days without alcohol, I was starting look really ugly with too much booze and I didn't like that). Had a couple of minimal sleep nights on Champix but manageable.
I am 37 days without cigs and am just taking morning Campix after talking to my pharmacist about the probs I was having. I am now settled with no side effects. But I think you need to follow the dosge as recommended initially, it's not going to hurt you and I think if you start disciplined you are more likey to quit, evaluate your own progress on Champix let this forum know how you are travelling.
I was 25 a day smoker for 39 years, I feel today like I havn't for a long time. No coughing mainly but man do I feel good about not smoking.
Be honest with your self about wanting to quit and why and that will be your daily reminder.
When you set your quit date, make it that day and stick to it or, from that day if you smoke even one or 2 a day you are actually going to not believe in your self. The struggle to stop will continue.
Hope that helps, good luck.

G'Day Hales,
As Doin it say don't be afraid, i am on my 2nd day of god knows howmany times i have tried to quit and have taken both lots of tablets before. Yes some side effects do happen, differently for different people but hay, what is that compared to dieing of emphaseema (think i spelt it right) that scares me the most, more than cancer. I use thoughts like that to help me through and as Doin it says once your past the first week or two see your GP or pharmacist about reducing your tablets. I think the first week or two are the worst but after that you still have to manage those cravings and thought process and the tablets do help. Good luck, Good Health & Good Living thats what i am aiming for.

I am on Champix and now have been 34 days free of tobacco. The side effects for me are minimal. I do get slightly nauseous about half hour after i take the morning one, and dreams have been very vivid for the first few weeks. Now they are still vivid but hard to recall upon waking. Not everyone has side effects and some have none at all...Just talk to your chemist or Dr if you do have bad side effects. Also, for the first month, I stuck to the morning/night routine religiously. Now, I take the night one early (About half an hour before meal) and it helps stop that after dinner craving. Dont be afraid to start, or to fail many times, its getting back on the horse as my old dad used to say....It wont be easy, but at the end of week one, take the money saved and go out and do something special, as a reward!

I am on Champix as well can't say more after what Doin It and Shtaba mentioned. There is no worry while taking Champix. I am in week 4 and settled nicely.
