Too Late To say sorry
and way too late to tell my Dad that I love him.
We hadnt spoken for years and out of the blue he asked me to visit, He didn't say he was unwell.
I set my travel date for a month away. He died 2 weeks later, 2 weeks before I was originally due to arrive.
I got to finally go "home" but it was to bury my Dad.
He had smoked for 60yrs. I have smoked for 30.
He died of Emphysema. I listen to the wheezing in my chest and the increasing breathlessness.
I tell my kids everyday that I love them.
I hope I never have to say sorry to them, (sorry that I am a smoker)
