back pains made worse from smoking

hi
in the past month i have been suffering from sever morning back pains. I have visited my doctor regularly, had x-rays and was told that i need to exersize more. i then went online and did searches on the connection between back pain and smoking and there were many articles. this kindled the fire for me to decide to quit. in additon to this my mother is going through cancer and i have seen how it has effected the life of my whole family. she is not a smoker but i have come to the conclusion that if smoking is directly connected to cancers than i dont want to put my wife and possibly future kids through what i am currently going through with my mom.

you should have a thoracic x-ray it is a x-ray of the spine that will tell you what is going on, i had one done and it turns out that a disc at t6 is fused and their is a slight fracture and also curvature of the spine and i was a healthy man gone to bed one night and woke up like that, it is very painfull and i will be on killers like forever my doctor said it might get better might so if you haven't had that you should i have been smoke-free for 180 days, well all the best and stay strong.

Hi and thanks so much for your advice. I have had the x-ray but the doctor said theres nothing wrong and that I have to loose weight.
