Drink Less

This is probably the 20th time I quit. I seem to last only a few months or until I have a few drinks. For some while I have been having a few drinks on a regular basis and so the cycle go's. I am 41 and really need to look after my health and stop the nagging of my children. I need to do this for me. My husband won't stop so I must be strong and enjoy the feeling of being a non smoker and only a minimal drinker. By putting down in writing will confirm my committment to this being the final attempt and confirm my quit date as 01/10/2013. Sonya

hi Sonya
perhaps re-phrase and confirm commitment to your first successful attempt; this time you stay quit!
good luck and keep us updated

Hi Sonya,
I too have tried quite a few times, I do allright for a month or two then lose it emotionally. My boyfriend also smokes at the moment he is talking about giving up which is a start I suppose as he has never tried before.
Well Sunday was my last cigarette so we are pretty close in the stop date.
We will both succeed this time hey :) We just have to keep focusing on why we are doing this. Clean hair, teeth, clothes, clean everything. Healthier and a pay rise!!
Well good luck I wish you all the best.

Well Sonya, one of the fringe benefits of giving up the smokes is that we can now afford to drink, and taste, a better class of wine.

Thanks Sharon - thank you for your comment and support - all the best to you too.

Thank You, Bill yes I agree with your comment and thinking. Appreciate your input

Hi there Sonya i have not found any problems with the drinking and wanting a smoke it may be that i am still taking the champix that is making me not want one, time will tell once i have finished on the champix. Good luck. I am also a Sonya.

Hi Sonya (sconie) thanks for the comment. I received a script for champix and have it close. I am going cold turkey - bit of a challenge but when I hear lots of comments from others I feel positive. Look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Hi Sonya,
The most important lesson of all is just get back on this journey , if you fall off, just dust yourself off and keep going.
I have tried to give up on and off for the last 2 years, No joke probably lasted a few months and then got cocky and had a puff, which lead to a smoke and bam back on the fags. But i kept giving up and not quitting the quit smoking process and eventually its all kicked in and I am now smokefree for 5 months ( 05/10/13).
So never give up on this quit journey and most importantly never give up on yourself and your ability to kick this filthy habit.. We are all nicotine addicts on this road and we are all going through the same thing..
Good luck, keep strong and you will get there xx

Thank You, Gammy - 5 months well done that is great ! I can't wait to let you know when i hit the 5 months. really really appreciate your comments. I have read it over and over!

Hi Sonya,
Well done on deciding to quit..... you will not regret it. I have drank twice since my quit and I have noticed I can drink more....lol it may possibly be a over-compensation, but it is not often I drink anyhow. But do stick with it and post here we are all here to support you, share experiences. You can do it
