Extremely Close and Incredibly Loud

Posted in Reasons to quit
schedule 16 Sep 2013

I watched the movie Extremely Close & Incredibly Loud last night and it confirmed my worst fear is not being here to support my children as they grow up. My son and I are very close and the idea of me letting him down by dying from something I could have prevented is more than I can bear.

I had already quit prior to seeing this movie but this just confirms that all the withdrawal I am going through right now is better than the anguish I would feel if I were diagnosed with terminal camcer.

Not seen the movie. But you're right - battling a few cravings is easier than battling a devastating terminal illness. I watched my grandmother die from lung cancer - it was horrific - you'd think it would have put me off ciggies for good! So it's not just the dying from something that could have been prevented that would be hard for your son - but watching you die, and it ain't pretty! Good luck, keep going and stay strong!
