I've read the Allen Carr book and didn't smoke for nine days and then silly me started again. But it is worth reading and I will be reading it again to help me through this time. It's all about getting angry with the nicotine monster and wanting it dead- you being the winner and not the cigarette. Unfortunately it's not just the nicotine monster you have to kill, it's the psychological one as well, and that is the hardest one to kill. It's all the associations you have with a cigarette- the first one in the morning, the one you have as a reward when you've completed a task, the ones you have to relax, and the one after dinner, etc. But having said that, the book does pump you up and give you confidence that you can really do this.
