This time I will do it

This is day 9 for me.  I am 65 years of age and have quit more times than I can remember, sometimes for three or four months, once for six months and once for a year!  Every time, as I started to feel better, stop coughing, have more energy, decide that, despite my best efforts, my lungs seemed to be OK, I have given in and had the odd one, confident that I could control it now.  WRONG!  Within a week I would be back to a pack a day.

This time my coughing had become so bad that I knew I had to stop to see if the cough would go away - cos it certainly wasn't going away when I kept puffing away.  It is getting a bit better, but I think I will need to be off the cigarettes for a long time to recover from over forty years of smoking.

I KNOW I can't ever have that one again!  If I feel weak, I will come here.

Hey Paula B,

Well done, Your on the right track.Just keep focused, stay strong and no matter what, do not have a cigarette.

You've done this before, so you have learned ways to cope and avaoid situations.

Honestly,You are not alone. we all have walked in your shoes and been at day 9.you need to keep busy, find something to distract you, whatever it takes. And before you know it you'll be months down the track.

You are not alone.

Good luck Paula. All you have to do is not put a cigarette in your mouth! It's that simple.
