My Resons to Quit

Posted in Reasons to quit
schedule 24 May 2012

I am a 22 year old female, and I can't walk up a hill without puffing! I have set my quit date as May 31st. Now my biggest issue will be the loss of 'escape' at work, and also at night - boredom. I don't dislike smoking, I dislike the effects, so I somehow have to hate the action too! Any helpful tips or someone who understand me would be amazing! 7 Days to go... :)

...this is smoke-free day sixteen for me...i talked to my doc and he prescribed champix to me which has been really effective...knowing my defaults or triggers was important...all those times i used to reach for a cigarette, getting in the car, finishing a meal, a commercial comes on a tv show i am watching, etc....slowly and thankfully they are starting to deminish and i am forgetting what it was like to smoke...good luck and good on ya...stick to your resolve...

I felt the same as you about smoking. Great book that really helped me - huge de-brainwash... Allen Cars Easyway To Stop Smoking. I read that and did a course of champix. Changed my routines too. Now 144 days smoke free! Go for it!!!

Hi, I picked a day to quit, I told my wife, my daughters, my family etc... It gave me a purpose, something to strive for. I'm like you and a billion other smokers around the world, yes we love smoking but it is killing us! Huh? Are we stupid or what? I wish you all the best on the 31st. I went for the patches and they work for me, no withdrawals just the 'habit' it will always be the 'habit' beat it...........

Hi indiefire, im reading a book called quit for life by jamie mushin and the biggest realisation i have had so far from it was this: "If you believe that one of the reasons you smoked was because you liked smoking, then ask yourself this - what else do you like? Do you like carrots? If so, does that mean you eat a carrot every hour?"
