Plan a give up date that is not bang in the middle of school holidays.

I have been a non smoker for 13 days, I miss it, I still crave it. I didn't give up because I wanted to, I did because I thought I had better. My main motivation is my children. I did not want to be in a situation later in life where I wished I had given up earlier. I am currently on nicotine patches which is helping. I am eating lots of lollies so will probably die of obesity rather than a smoke related illness. My only advice to anyone thinking of giving up is to plan a date that is not in the school holidays. I am quite proud of myself to reaching 13 days of no smoking, as the longest I had been without was 24 hours during a long haul flight. At the end of that flight I was evil and smoked a packet. So 13 days is quite an achievement for me. I do find it very frustrating that I try and not think of fags during the day, yet every time I watch a quit smoking add on tv it makes me want one even more.

I am on Day 21- You are doing fantastic keep it up- I actually agree re the quit smoking ads on TV- I also want one when ever the ad comes on- It seems to have the opposite affect to what they intend.

That's because trying not to think about them actually makes you think about them... really annoying I know. Try to relax (seriously), I genuinely believe that it's way too easy to make it harder than it really is if you put too much pressure on yourself, try to just accept that you're thinking about smoking, but you're not going to have one so the thoughts might aswell bugger off! It worked for me..... really, but then I think I lost a little of my sanity during initial quitting, tryo to laugh at the situation you're in it does help and it will pass, keep going guys.
