Smokin is a death sentence

Posted in Reasons to quit
schedule 10 Dec 2011

I quit smoking 1 week ago after 29 years, I have to say it has been a huge battle, struggling with massive cravings, constant sweating, dizziness and stomach aches, but I've been told that is normal.  I have very little support, which is why I joined this website.  I have been diagnosed with mild emphysema, this being a big reason to quit.  I tell you when you get the x-rays and the doctor tells you that you have emphysema, you have two choices either keep smokin and die a terrible early death or change by not smoking anymore and live a longer fulfiled life.  Sure I may still have mild emphysema for the rest of my life but I will live a hell of a lot longer and enjoy all the things that many healthy people do right now.

Your on the right track! Most smokers will not quit until they see early signs of what smoking can do. You are making the best choice for yourself by quitting! I for one am 22 and have been quit for almost 4 days now. But it is the best outcome we can have! Good luck and hope to hear from you in the coming weeks!

Good luck. It is a hard battle but one worth fighting.I also smoked for about 29 years and now smoke free for 52 day's. I'm sure a also have emphysema as i was always breathless and it runs in the family. I also developed severe asthma so to keep smoking was giving me an early death sentance. You can do it.
