Hints or tips please?

It keeps asking for hints and tips, but this isn't a hint or tip...  I'm quitting smoking, Monday 2nd will theoretically be my last day.  I don't really feel like quitting, but I am because I have a 14 month old and I don't like the idea of making smoking seem okay as they age.  Health and money are factors too, but secondary.

I'm making the second my last day because in the past when I've wanted to quit at New Years I've always ended up smoking on the 1st, generally in a hungover fog which is eliminated this year, but I've always felt awful and like a failure when that happens, so I figure the 1st is cursed :)

I've been cutting down (slooooowly) over the last few weeks so I can go cold turkey - if anyone is reading this who is also going/has gone cold turkey please send some hints and tips my way?

Hi Lexi , I have committed to stop smoking on the first of January - a New Year as a non-smoker.As the mum of a small child I can completely relate to you. Apparently lots of people succeed going cold turkey and I wish you all the best. I have decided to use patches to cut down on the mad cravings for the first week. I am also planning to change my routine. A walk first thing in the morning and a shower after dinner ( my peak craving times). Also plan on keeping really busy. Am going to paint the house!

Best of luck Lexi and happy new year!

Hi Lexi congratulations on making the decission to quit smoking. It certainly takes a lot of will power to do it cold turkey.im on the patches which i have found really good.Be strong minded, remind your self why u r quitting, the money u will save, your health. The first week or so is hard keep your mind busy on other things and i should imagine with a 14mth old u would always b busy. Its been 4 weeks since i had my last smoke and i feel great,i will be around a few smokers tonight New Years party but im over it or if i feel a twitch i walk away. All the very best of luck you have set the date to quit im sure you will do it.Keep us up 2 date on how u r doing. Happy New Year

Hi lexi, i gave up once b4 and will be again tomorro being the 16.01.12, anyway i found that eating a hard boiled lollies like jillas where awsome in helping getting over the cravings, so every time i had a craving i would have a jilla they where my savoir and they lasted as longer than the craving, you can buy them in coles or woolies. I buy the bulk pack as have them laying around every where, anther is a game that i use to play in my head, i knew i had to stop the thought of smoking entering my head so I would try so i use think of something like (fruit) and try and think of as many fruits as fast as i could to get my mind off thinking of smoking maybe try names of cars, girls names, vegies, animals what ever it was all about retraining the brain to stop thinking about smoking, Good luck stay strong
