the longest day ever!!!

Hi All
My quit journey started today...and 2.5 hours has seemed like forever! I have been smoking heavily for 5 years about a pack a day.
Last year i started expiriencing chest pain, pains in the left side of my body anxeity attacks, the slimey gug on the back of my throat when i woke up in the mornings was feral and the fact i cant really walk or run anymore cause im always out of breath. My smoking was costing my health and I saw my nan die suddenly from a heart attack and i dont want to go like that.
My Aim was to kick it on new years eve but drinking and being out go to me, so i decided on today and started wearing my patches.
What i am finding hard is....
1- walking through the city and seeing smokers everywhere its like the only thing i spot
2- surviving work all i want to do is get up go outside for 5 mins and have that smoke
3- not smoking in the car, i do alot of driving and smoke and driving goes hand in hand for me
I have tried the champix and i got heaps sick from it every side effect i got really bad.
Has anyone got any hints to help. and no i havent caved in....just been having lollipops as a replacement

Hi
Welll this just gets better... i am that emotional i am leaving paths of destruction left right and centre. it sucks am finding that i am extremely attgiatated and ropeable.

When you REALLY need a cig - reach for the Nicorette inhaler instead - it works like a charm!

hi sophia what ever you do dont go cold turkey otherwise you are leaving yourself open to depression like me yes you might be supprised it does happen because smoking is very addictive i must admit though i did suffer a heart attack as well.

This has summed up day 1 today for me!!!!!!!!!

...welcome to the club...do you know the word paradigm?...a paradigm is a way to see the world...for instance, i never noticed a white toyota cilica till i owned one and then i saw them all the time...i am the same as you in that when i go out and about i notice everyone that is smoking and i never used to notice....also, i can't drink a beer unless i am in the pub where i can't smoke anyway...i am only on day seven, but i am really glad i stuck to it and got this far...i refuse to give up now...good luck and good journey!!!!
