Unusua give-uo

it was unusual when I finally gave up.
I was walking up the stairs to my workplace one morning, which meant must have a cigarette.
That morning i reached for my pocket. No cigarettes, then I realised I had not had a cigarette for a few weeks.
I stopped for a moment and this thought jumped on me :
“Oh well, I wanted to give up cigarettes anyway, so it looks like cigarettes gave ME up.. Great news I thought, I’ll take THAT. “
I want to live, and I don't want to die young and in pain.”so, thanks!
I had been going to therapists. Even hypnotists and more. None really helped. Important to the story is that I was near 40. So last chance time.
I think the change happened subconsciously: the idea became sufficiently convincing that the old behaviour simply lost its place.
I hadn't successfully fought cigarettes. I had stopped being interested in them.
