The one thing I’ve noticed is I’ve put on 5.5 kg in the 77 days since I quit. I’m watching food intake and exercising so I just don’t get it.

77 days smoke‑free is a huge achievement - really well done. 👏

Putting on some weight after quitting is very common. Nicotine makes you less hungry and speeds up your body, so when it’s gone, your body slows back down. You're doing the right things by exercising and keeping an eye on what you're eating - be patient with yourself, weight will often settle down after a little while.

also, exercise builds muscle; and muscle weighs more than fat.
