We all get set in our ways and don't like change much as a rule.

It seems that you have a great reason to quit smoking and  to look after someone who needs you and loves you.  I hope that I am not hearing self pity and an excuse to continue smoking.

Smoking never did anything for us, for our stress, troubles or ever solved any problems.  Smoking only increased our dependence on the nicotine, zapped our will to face the challenge of quitting , and created far more problems that it ever solved. (which is and always will be NONE.)

Turn to a real friend to lean on and get sound advice on how to cope with Mom. We made excuses to smoke long enough. Desire change and the best for both you and your Mom!

 You can do this!
