Hello non-smoking, or soon to be non-smoking friends,

I can't believe I've made it this far. I am just about 2 months retired so I have the ENTIRE day to think about cigaretts. I do stay busy each day which was my promise to myself for retirement. Staying busy was/is the key to my success and reading posts from this community as well.

Day 1 was a piece of cake, day 2 hit me with cravings, day 3 was just horrible, day 4 was better than day 3 day (just a little better), day 5 was better than day 4... on and on... each day seemed to be better, meaning, I could cope much better as time went by. I am still on VERY shaky ground but I keep thinking, I would never want to repeat days 2, 3, and 4.

I went to bed very early when I first quit. I have many cravings even now, and hope they will soon go away. I am 67 and have had artery issues which led to multible surgeries. It is time... Beyond time!

Every day I think of smoking and from all these posts I have read, the thoughts of smoking will lessen. I have attached the phrase: "Do Not Prolong the Inevitable, there is NO easy solution".on a couple walls and doors of my home. I obviously need to quit, not just for health, but for other reasons too. I have been a closet smoker for years and years (most people probably could detect I was a smoker no matter how many times I brushed my teeth) and now, I just want to get out of the closet for good.

Good luck to all of you "newbies"... I too am a newbie and hope to be an "oldbie"! hahah
