Go through the pain

I am now coming up the 10 years smoke free in September. I had already had 3 months clean before I joined I can Quit and needed the extra support.

The fact that I actually gave up after 53 years of heavy smoking still amazes me even now.

I am now 77 years old and my chest is clear. I doubt very much if I would still be alive if I hadn’t stopped.

Tip. Just do it. Don’t waste any more time. I went cold Turkey in the end. Find a quit buddy here.

My Buddy is 100 days ahead of me and she (Lia ) really helped me to keep going in the early days.

Thanks I can Quit.

Dobbin.

Congratulations on your quit. I was unable to go cold turkey, I used lozenges, but I got there in the end. My best friend is my role model, as she has done over 5 years.

Hi Dobbin. If you quit 3 months before joining this community oh so long ago, you are probably my twin quit buddy. 10 years on the 30th May. I can remember that day as clear as if it was yesterday. It is important to let others know of the value of having a quit buddy as initially we had a few and the banter was good. No one was game to fail with such support. Getting reassurance from a very long time quit buddy is invaluable cos it can feel very lonely if there is no reassurance of the success of others. We owe others to each other. As you said, it is a matter of life and death. We chose well.

Congrats again Dobbin and Lia. I remember when I joined after quitting to stay quit and to inspire others. When we see, we do!

This is a great site to learn and be motivated. Choose well as we did.
