ZYBAN (BUPROPION)

61 days now no smokes after a lifetime heavy habit. Zyban and Nicorette mouth spray. Side effects insomnia and nightmares. Quitting nicorette spray next few days. Side effects have been hard but bearable. I might be in the clear I think.

Congratulations on your two months quit. Those are the hardest times and easier days are ahead.
Embrace your new life as a non-smoker and know that your are gaining everything and missing nothing. Only then can you breathe easier knowing that you love your new status and unlikely to look back. Remember that you CHOSE this for yourself, so be proud and free!

Hi Andrew I tried Zyban many years ago. The side effects were horrible. They took away my desire for everything, i didnt want to do anything, eat, have fun etc all gone,. I couldnt sleep either and when I did I had nightmares. After 2 weeks on them I had a seizure, another known side effect. This time I tried a drug free no side effect method, hypnotherapy (a single session) and it’s worked really well for me. I have not had a smoke since, after 50yrs of smoking.. Its been stress free, no withdrawal symptoms and when I do want one I say to myself smoking is not for me and the desire goes quick

Dear RaggBear, Thank you for sharing your experience. Some of my experience with Zyban was the same as yours: bad. The main negatives were lethargy, nightmares and insomnia. No seizures though. But they have settled down mostly now. The drug itself was developed as an antidepressant and I think the side effects are fairly predictable. Weirdly, my overall mood, which was not good, improved. So I stuck with it. It's 89 days now smoke free and the side effects have settled. I suspect that the extra exercise: walking that I now engage in helps a great deal. Thanks again.
