Today is day 43 and to be honest I'm having a rough time. I thought for sure I'd feel better and would be dealing with my quit better at this point. Still think of cigarettes the first thing when I wake up and I have to fight through every day just to get to the next. Help...how much longer am I going to feel like this??? I want a cigarette sooooo bad!!!

Hi PattyR

Well done you for getting to day 43. You are no longer physically addicted to nicotine by now so every day is about your psychological bonds to cigarettes and nicotine and how to re wire your brain to function differently than in the past. That is, functioning without the constant need to top up your daily life experiences with the release of dopamine courtesy of nicotine. I found it very helpful to confront that little voice in the back of your head telling you to load up your brain with a cancer stick - its empowering to be able to say no and put it back in its box even though you have to push through the discomfort that comes with it.

Thanks Brok, I made it through the day! Today I'm going outside to stay busy. I find that boredom is my worst enemy.

I just keep telling myself "I'm only a puff away from a pack a day"

Hi PattyR, awesome job not to succumb to the addiction again. During my quit, when things got tough, I would eat carrots, sunflower seeds and constantly chewed a gum. Good luck, you can do it. Practice NOPE - not one puff ever.
