Stopped for nearly 5 years and started again!!

I’ve been a smoker on and off (mostly on!!) for over 20 years - scary to think it’s been that long!! I gave up for almost 5 years and for some stupid reason about 7 months ago started with 1 or 2 and then boom - full blown hooked again. Can’t believe I let that happen! Anyway my kids have begged me to stop so Monday it is. Im completely determined to kick this time consuming, stinky and expensive habit for good!!! Tomorrow I’ll finish what I have left and then I’m done!!!

So sorry to hear that happened after 5 years smoke free. Whatever caused an addict to nicotine to throw caution to the wind and take the chance of losing the freedom from such a vile habit/addiction? Some might think that one to be sociable after such a long time won't hurt, but the truth is that nicotine is an addictive substance and we are and always will be addicts! That is why we caution people to think NOPE, Not one Puff EVER!
Quitting smoking you would think will be easier since the fear to become a non smoker is not there. I imagine that you enjoyed being non-=smoker? There are so many benefits as well as the freedom from having to feed an addiction. You did not CHOOSE to take up smoking again for life, anymore than you did years ago when you first started.
We have to be more aware of how powerful this drug is. Yet, we are clearly more powerful, as so many have beat it as you had also. I am glad that you joined us , to read our stories and find the desire to remain smoke-free once again. You are just more proof that being a non-smoker is wonderful!
No ones chooses to be a life long smoker and we do have the CHOICE and the power to change this. There is nothing to fear and everything to gain.
Change how you think about smoking and change your life!

Thank you for sharing this. Just goes to show that you can never let your guard down or have even one! Good luck with your quit. Look forward to seeing you succeed

I am on my first day of not smoking tried several times but always failed Smoking lately makes me feel so sick that I don’t even want to eat but still continue to smoke I’m going cold turkey .Hopefully this time I can do it.
