I’ve just completed 6 weeks tonight of no nicotine. I had a slip a few weeks in of one. It was gone very quickly but left me feeling like I would fail again. There have been a number of times when I’ve thought of going to the shops to get some but I haven’t. Somewhere within myself I’m finding the strength to keep going with my quit, and also finding new ways of dealing with stress and difficult emotions. There’s a part of me which is critical of myself and says I can’t do it and that it won’t take much for me to cave in. I can hear it but I’m not accepting what it’s saying . It’s like a little demon that appears and says go on just get one pack, you can always start again later on etc etc . For me it’s now or never time. It’s totally my choice. Sorry for rambling on but this site seems good for working this thing out and supporting one another.

Cuba,.. listen to the part of you that says you CAN do it! Now is the time not try again at a later date. You already have time vested and you are stronger than you think. Here, you are now giving good advise. You are supportive of others that are on the same road to freedom. Just remember N.O.P.E. - Not One Puff Ever. And that means EVER! You are doing well and you can do this. One day at a time, one hour at a time. It does get better and better. You will work through this.... stay positive and focused. Cheers to completing 6 weeks! Time goes fast. Good going and keep it going!

6 weeks is amazing!! You must be really pleased with yourself! Having very recently gone through the first week of quitting I can tell you that you do not want to go through that again if you don't have to! Just think back to how awful starting out your quit is.

Hi Cuba. Good job!

We know that smoking did nothing for us whatsoever. Smoking caused more anxiety than it will ever solve. Money issues, health concerns and avoiding situations where we could not smoke. Lighting up was just something done even without thinking for the most part. We only acknowledged the first puff or two which relieved any craving which the nicotine itself caused. Th

Now you have a choice. I doubt you would have felt you had a choice when you smoked. The more I cut down the more I realised I had options. Quitting is liberating.
