ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCES

Trying out the full step 2-3 nicotine patches program has proved very difficult for me. I'm having awful nightmares and finding it hard to sleep I am almost at the 5th week of the patch program and still cracking every now again when the anxiety is too much for me. However I have had a few days of non smoking in a row which is a big leap forward. It's my birthday today and I feel like crying it was so tough. My heart is violently pounding in my chest at random times of the day but iam remaining strong just feel exhausted, tired and yes it doesn't do good for people already dealing with mental health problems. I can already see improvement in the way people are approaching and treating me however which is really gratifying. Lady on quit line says it'll take a full 12 weeks for me to completely rid myself of the nicotine and God knows what else. Please God help me ;(

Sunny, you have come to the right place for knowledge and support. Please read and do take the initiatve to read Allen Car or visit Joel Spritz on line. It does help to know what you are dealing with and that you do not need to fear it. Have you ever heard of anyone wishing they smoked?

We can quit smoking. There are aids to help with the psychological part of quitting smoking. That is what most people deal with the longest. There is no reason that this should be any harder for you.

Stop thinking in the negative. It is mandatory to keep positive about the process. Change takes time and 12 weeks is no big deal in the scheme of things. FREEDOM has no price. TIME is priceless. But we burned our money, our clothes and complained about the cost. EXCUSES are bountiful, but that is all they are.

FEAR.....Forget excuses!

Accept reality!

You are almost at your 5th week. That is a huge amount of time. Successful time under your belt. Congratulations. Just think,... the discomfort is only temporary and will get to be less and less. You have gone a long way so far but you need to really WANT this and you need to know that the urges are only mere "thoughts". You don't physically hurt without a smoke, it is all in your mind. Let your mind resist those thoughts. Think that YOU CAN DO THIS. Keep saying, N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever), because just one puff will bring you smack back to the addiction. Follow your patch plan and reward yourself for small milestones. Make small goals,... another day,.. another week. Read a bunch of posts from this community. They can really help, especially when you find one that relates to your exact circumstance.

You CAN do this. You ARE doing this!!! Stay strong, keep positive and stay smoke free!!! You WILL get there! It really is possible. It was possible for me, and for many others,... and it is possible for you too!!!
